Thanksgiving Weekend

Wow I can't believe that my family has already been out here and is gone already. It was probably my best weekend I have had since I have been out here. I was so glad to have them out here because my dad wasn't able to go out in the field and couldn't drag my mom and my little sister didn't have everything in the world going on. She also left her phone behind in the room twice so she wouldn't be texting people. It was awesome. On Wednesday night when they got here we just went and got Thanksgiving groceries and then went to my apartment and they got to meet Kike and Ignacio and Natalie. It was a good time.
Then on Thursday it ended up being about 70 degrees and when we left the hotel to go to my apartment we ended up turning around and taking our stuff to our room and went out and toured all day. We went to the Washington Memorial then to the WWII memorial, which is always awesome to see. Then on our walk to the Korean War memorial we found a little Gazebo type thing cut back in to the brush and not very up kept. It was a memorial of the DC residents that died in the World Wars. That was pretty cool because it is one of those things you wouldn't go to see but if you come upon it, it is beautiful. Then we made our way to the Korean war memorial then up to Lincoln. When we got done in Lincoln the storm clouds moved in so we taxied back to the Hotel and then went to my apartment.
At my apartment we put the Turkey in and then put in HairSpray. My little sister's favorite movie. After that was over we put the rest of the food together and then started We Are Marshall. That movie is a must see especially if you are a sports fan. We ended up not eating until about 8 pm but it was ok because we got to see alot and be bums. We ended up leaving my apartment around 11 and made it back on the last trains through Metro Center to the L'efant stop.
Then on Friday we had a Capitol Tour at 8:40 am. We arrived at 8:15 and no one was there until 8:30 to tell us what to do. My little sister at this point got to see what DC life is like. They told us we had to move over to the other side of the rope and at this point the people that were in the back of the line that were there after us budged in front of us and wouldn't let us in line. She got really pissed and then got even more pissed when they counted us out and the people that had budged in front of us were then saying...Don't Budge, Stay in your line. I was like Welcome to the DC life where everyone only looks out for themselves.
After the tour was done we walked to the Library of Congress so April could see the bible in there, then we were off to Metro Center. I wanted to take them to a Cosi to eat but of course they were closed for some reason so we ate at SUBWAY ha ha. Then after we ate we had a tour/speaker at Interpol at 12. This would end up being my Parents favorite part because they learned alot they would have never known about Interpol and alot of things I didn't even know. It was very interesting. Then Dad took pictures of things I had been meaning to take pictures of. It was great, when I got to work today my cubicle mate said she was happy to see my proud dad taking pictures for memories :D I love my dad :D he is good at catching great memories on film. Then after Interpol we went shopping quick dropped the bags off at the hotel then we were off to the Kennedy Center.
The Kennedy Center was pretty interesting but we arrived right as they tour was starting and didn't have time to potty break or anything so dad went to the bathroom in one of the theaters, well I guess this is the cardinal sin to the old hag that was giving us the tour because she like bitched us out for that and said "that is why we told you before the tour to use the restroom" ha ha whatever. But we got to see an awesome view of the city up on top of the Kennedy Center so that was sweet even though it was 10 below windshield. I was so cold all day and I think I am still warming up.. ha ha.
After this it was basically a race to see who could fall asleep the fastest. And just to let you know I won every night. I was soo pooped out from all the going and going that I didn't think I was going to make it.
On Saturday we got up and went to the Holocaust Museum and stood in line for tickets where again we were lined up in the wrong spot from following everyone else and well when they moved us over everyone started to budges...until the guy there told everyone to stop cheating their neighbors...april got pissed and said wow I hate how everyone is so rude...OUT LOUD ha ha it was great. But we got in at the 10 am tour and we were there 4 and 1/2 hours. Just about got Trent and mine's lil over 5 hours when i was there in January. I didn't even feel like I was in there that long but we were. Then we went to Arlington Cemetery and caught the last changing of the guard before they closed the park at 5 pm.
After this I took them to Pentagon City and we shopped quicking then we went back to my apartment so I could get Sunday Clothes and then we went back to the hotel and crashed AGAIN.
Sunday we went to Church and April sang with the Choir. I think she had fun doing it so that was good. She was up there with my friend Dave, Susan's Husband. So she kind of knew someone. After church we went to their house to see their new additions to their house and April and Dad got to see their two 20 lb cats. They are awesome I love those cats. Then we ate and it was time to take them home to the bus to head home :( We didn't really get a chance to say good bye because we were rushed on getting them onto the bus. I am not sure if that is worse or better but that is what happened. I miss them already and I can't wait to get back to see everyone again. I had an amazing time and I can't wait to just be back at see everyone.
At the same time I can't believe that there are only 3 weeks until I am home.
Today I had a tour/meeting at the Secret Service. It was a great time because I got to see a bunch of things I didn't when I was on the tour with the group and he then took me out to lunch. It was a good time and he told me that if I was going to apply for a job with Secret Service to let him know so he could put in a good word for me. :D so that is a positive.
But anyway that is your up date on my weekend I will write later on how my week goes. I have a bunch of tours this week so it should be rather interesting. Take care!
